Interested in becoming a Birds & Blooms Field Editor? Now’s your chance!  

Our Field Editors are an enthusiastic group of some of our most devoted readers who want to be more involved with Birds & Blooms magazine. We’ve created a private Facebook community exclusively for our volunteer Field Editors program, and now is your chance to get in on the fun and action!

In our friendly Facebook community, readers share what’s going on in their backyards, ask (and answer!) each other’s birding and gardening questions, and support each other’s excitement about nature.

Field Editor Perks

Let Your Voice be Heard: Field Editors’ thoughts, ideas, stories and bird photos regularly appear in our magazine. When they are published, your name will have our signature “FE” icon next to it in the magazine to show that you are a Field Editor, as well as a call out on the For the Reader page. And the Birds & Blooms editorial staff often turn to the Field Editors via the Facebook group for their birding and gardening expertise to include in upcoming articles.  

Get Insider Insight: Editorial staff share some of what’s going on behind-the-scenes at the magazine, including sneak peeks of upcoming issues, and occasionally asking for suggestions and feedback on the magazine. Editorial staff will also pop in the group from time to time with fun, thought-provoking questions, trivia and more!  

Our Gift to You: In return for your thoughtful contributions to the group and magazine, you will receive complimentary subscriptions to both Birds & Blooms magazine and Birds & Blooms Extra digital magazine!  

Please note that we do have some very minimal Facebook posting and submission requirements to be met quarterly to maintain membership in the group. We do ask that you be comfortable with using Facebook and our Submit Your Story page. See our submission guidelines.

How to Apply

Email us at [email protected] with “Field Editor” in the subject line. 

Be sure to include your… 

• Name 
• Mailing address (including city/state) 
• The email address connected to your Facebook account (that’s what we need to invite you to the group) 
• Whether you’re a current Birds & Blooms subscriber or have been in the past 
• 100 words or less why you would be a good fit for our Field Editors group

Please keep in mind that this is an unpaid volunteer position, and we are not able to compensate you financially.
