“This photo was taken in late July; the plants are located at our Wisconsin residence. The spiky steel blue globe thistle, Echinops ritro, adds texture and contrast to the smooth, bright white Oriental lily Casa Blanca,” says Scott Dassow.
“I couldn’t resist this shot after a good rainstorm. I have several upside-down lilies in my back garden and this one just jumped out at me, so I grabbed my camera and snapped away. It is an unusual-looking flower and demanded attention, so this shot had to be taken!” says Sarah Johnson.

“The Michigan lily is a native wild lily of the Great Lakes region. I stumbled across this stunning beauty in dappled sunlight at the edge of my woods in Oakland County, Michigan. It seemed to almost glow in the sunlight,” says Jonathan Schechter.
